Marianne Huebner, MS.
In 2008, after spending
significant time working in the field of domestic violence, Heubner signed on
with Children's Hospital as an art "specialist" and has been active and adamant
in changing her role to its proper title: art therapist. Since signing on with
Children's Hospital, she has not only defined art therapy in that particular
setting, but taken on the task of educating staff, families, and donors as to
the benefits and potential of art therapy in a medical setting. She established
a set of guidelines differentiating art therapy from art specialty, generated
consult and assessment forms, and has been instrumental in the development of
new programming for staff and families where art therapy is a key component.
